About this product
A good tamp is half of a good espresso. This De'Longhi tamper has a solid stainless steel base that fits 51mm De'Longhi filter holders, with the weight and balance to press the coffee into a flat, even bed.
An even bed means water flows through all of the coffee, not just one side, so the shot tastes full rather than sour or bitter. The shaped handle is comfortable to hold every day. It fits La Specialista and Dedica machines.
How to tamp
Level the coffee in the basket first, then hold the tamper like a door handle with your wrist straight and your elbow above it. Press down firmly until the coffee stops giving, keep it flat, and lift straight up. Wipe the rim of the basket before locking it in.
How to use it
- Fill the filter basket and level the coffee with a finger.
- Rest the tamper flat on the coffee, elbow above it.
- Press down firmly until the coffee stops giving.
- Check it is level, wipe the rim and lock in the filter holder.

Questions
Will it fit my machine?
It is 51mm, the size of the filter holder on La Specialista and Dedica machines. Bean-to-cup machines tamp for you and do not need one.
How hard should I tamp?
Firmly and evenly, until the coffee stops compressing. Level matters more than force: an uneven bed lets water run through one side.
