About this coffee

Sumatra is not a coffee for everyone, and that is its charm. These single-origin Arabica beans from Indonesia are roasted medium-dark into a full-bodied, intensely chocolatey cup with earthy undertones and notes of liquorice and herbs.

People tend to love it or not. If you enjoy a heavy, low-acid coffee with a bit of character, it is well worth a try.

Brewing it

It makes a rich espresso and a deep, heavy cafetière. In a bean-to-cup machine, a medium grind works well.

Miles have roasted coffee in Porlock, on the edge of Exmoor in Somerset, for well over a century. They roast in small batches, and we send every bag from our own warehouse in Minehead with free tracked delivery.

Whole bean. Grind just before you brew, or let your bean-to-cup machine do it for you. It comes in a 1kg bag.

Yes. It is a medium-dark roast that suits espresso-style drinks from a bean-to-cup machine.

How long does a 1kg bag last?

A bean-to-cup machine uses roughly 7 to 14g of beans a drink, depending on the strength you set. So 1kg makes about 70 to 140 drinks: around a month at three or four coffees a day.
