About this coffee

Breakfast does what the name says: a gentle, smooth start to the day. It is one of the lightest roasts in the Miles range, 2 out of 5, so it tastes clean and sweet with very little bitterness.

Colombian Arabica gives it a crisp, lightly fruity base. Brazilian beans add caramel sweetness and a creamy body, Honduran coffee adds a little lively acidity, and a small share of Ugandan Robusta gives body and a caffeine lift.

How to brew it

It is at its best as a black coffee or with a splash of milk: in a bean-to-cup machine on a long coffee, a filter brewer, a cafetière, a V60 or an AeroPress. If you want a dark, heavy espresso, choose Italian Espresso instead.

Miles have roasted coffee in Porlock, on the edge of Exmoor in Somerset, for well over a century. They roast in small batches, and we send every bag from our own warehouse in Minehead with free tracked delivery.

Questions

Is it whole bean or ground?

Whole bean. Grind just before you brew, or let your bean-to-cup machine do it for you. It comes in 227g and 1kg bags. The 1kg bag is the better value if you drink coffee every day.

Will Breakfast Coffee Beans suit my bean-to-cup machine?

Yes, especially for long coffees and Americanos. As a short espresso it tastes lighter and brighter than a dark espresso blend; that is the style, not a fault.

How long does a 1kg bag last?

A bean-to-cup machine uses roughly 7 to 14g of beans a drink, depending on the strength you set. So 1kg makes about 70 to 140 drinks: around a month at three or four coffees a day.
